Bankruptcy Reform
Major changes were made to bankruptcy law in 2005. Creditors alleged bankruptcy fraud was rampant so they changed the law in ways that favored creditors.
It did not matter that bankruptcy fraud WAS NOT rampant. But when you have the money you can lobby and lobby and lobby until you get your way.
So thats fine. Here is a link to an article I wrote that was published in the Minneapolis Star Tribune that gives my opinion.
I BELIEVE IT IS NO HARDER TO FILE BANKRUPTCY TODAY THEN IT WAS BEFORE THEY CHANGED THE LAW.
In fact, the changes the creditors made to Minnesota and federal bankruptcy law make it clearer then ever when a client qualifies for bankruptcy, and why a client qualifies for bankruptcy.
In my opinion the bankruptcy reform was a matter of stereotyping bankruptcy filers as bad people. How ridiculous.
Here are the bankruptcy disclosures that attorneys are required to give to clients.
For the quality of service, knowledge of the law, experience, and client attention no attorney will give you more bang for your buck.
